Letter From Earth
The Poets and Storytellers United prompt "write a letter to our body" brought Earth to focus, the "body" we live on that's losing its luster, in part, due to human activity that can be mitigated simply by lowering carbon emissions. There is also the bruising of wars that effect Earth as a whole. The human cycle of our billions-of-years-old home has been hospitable. If it were human, however, it might need hospitalization, although on calm days a sick planet can look remarkably well and its health quite indiscernible.

HOLD ONTO THE LIGHT |
...we live thousands of miles apart, but we each see and enjoy the same or similar things. When will we successful tend to our sick planet?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics and an apt message. I'm proud of the work I did in the hydrocarbon industry helping keep people warm and fueling our economy but it is time, or really past time, to transition to cleaner energy sources.
ReplyDelete"We are in the sixth mass extinction event. Unlike the previous five, this one is caused by the overgrowth of a single species, Homo sapiens." Very scary article and deeply concerning. Makes you wonder if our sick planet can recover.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI just learnt about the Overshoot day. It's depressing.
ReplyDeletea beautiful post
ReplyDeleteVery well said! (It's hard not to think that humanity en masse is just insane.)

Lovely series of photos and touching message.
ReplyDeleteI love the unexpected and clever way you wrote this letter, the direction you headed ... Well done!
ReplyDelete"Cherish me well or perish". It doesn't get any clearer than that.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully worded poem with a great message
ReplyDeleteaching, yet still spinning - oh yes... but for how long can the earth bear such horrible damage....
ReplyDeleteWonderful images and words - Jae
ReplyDeleteLovely images! I love the water views and the gulls. Your poem is spot on, our earth is sick and needs attention! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely and sad. Will we ever learn?
ReplyDeleteHello. Nice photos of the shore. Climate change touches us here in Scandinavia. For example, the distribution areas of birds change.
ReplyDeleteI just read a list of the subjects uppermost on the minds of US voters and climate remediation doesn’t even make the list. Our house is collapsing around us and we don’t care. And it looks like we are going to have a fanatical right wing moron as Prime Minister here in Canada. Just wait to see what that does to our proclivity for environmental ineptitude. Despite soaring rhetoric, Canada has not met one of the targets we have committed to. Ever. And we never will.
ReplyDeleteI share your concern. It's one thing not to meet a target but another altogether not to acknowledge a target, which is what we'd likely get with that right-wing fellow who has zero appeal imo. It's frightening to think of him as leader at such a pivotal time. Disappointing he got this far.
DeleteThe last two lines are perfect!
