Head In The Clouds & Six Feet Apart

Servers at data centers all over our world bridge the physical and virtual. Imagine being without phones, technology or the internet "cloud" that in part enabled me to share photos of real clouds during early morning walks. Such brief jaunts might at some point stop should more people be outdoors as the season progresses.

I went at low populated times and where most people obey the rules to stay apart.

Baby-green willow strands were as sparsely spaced as the walkers.

New-born shoots had sprung up everywhere at a local nature park.

Ghostly figures, wrapped in white, swam the blue sky with broad painterly strokes.

Storm clouds were way off in the distance and the forested park path beckoned.

I saw no puddles, no crowds, but some odd things at my feet begged for attention.

Trees shaped like monsters followed my footsteps with questioning gazes, seeming to ask about life returning to normal. Perhaps life never will. Some new habits could stick and result in a happier planet, even when we no longer need to travel six feet apart.

  1. Hello, beautiful captures of the skies and clouds. I would like a walk there next to the water and in the forest. It would be grand if we ended up with a happier planet after all. Lovely photos! Take care and stay well, wishing you a happy day!

  2. I suspect that some of the habits we are developing now will become ingrained, and many of our behaviours might be modified in the long term. So far, other than for the lack of socialization, Miriam and I seem to have been little affected by this pandemic. Based on my observation, most people seem to be keeping two metres apart, or at least trying to. The one area that I have seen where breaches occur fairly frequently is with dog walkers. Dogs lunge at each other and the owners are sometimes almost on top of each other trying to control their dogs. Some of these pets are big and powerful too, and difficult to restrain. I feel sorry for those who live in small apartments in high-rise buildings; isolation under those conditions must be very difficult. At least we can enjoy the backyard and talk to the neighbours over the fence - keeping our distance of course!

  7. Very beautiful walk you did what a nice place ! We also go walking especially our weather is not always sunny. And when it rains we are anyway confined home. It's a real nightmare. But we have to go through and respect the rules.

  8. A hopeful post ... both words and pictures. And we need that. And pictures that showcase your beautiful natural place to walk ... and we need those places even more than ever.

  9. The beauty and vitality of the new-born shoots are encouraging. What I like about this time of year is that we can see spacious blue skies and formation of clouds through the tall trees with smaller baby leaves, as is shown in your photos. Keep good walking, keep good health.
