More Washing & Less Shaking Of Hands In Our Magical Land

“We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results.” ― Henry Melvill

A captured moment in time doesn't convey how beautiful glitter-in-motion looks when the sun seeps through the clouds and casts its silken glow. Standing at the Crescent Beach shore, my gaze turned away from the sea to forgotten gloves on a bench. They reminded me of all the hand wringing and washing we're doing to curtail coronavirus. Although young people are least affected they must also take care. They could possibly bring the virus home to their more vulnerable parents and grandparents. Every person has a hand in how far this will go. As we keep a social distance, how can we doubt our interconnection and how can it be more clear that it doesn't bode well to be careless with mother nature? In search of silver linings, less travel does result in cleaner air.

  5. This virus really does have the potential to become a true pandemic with most areas of the world affected. Thank goodness that in Canada we have a robust system of containment and control in place, based on serious science, not ideology, and our leaders are forthright and honest. I have a good deal of faith in the scientists and medical professionals who are consulted regularly and whose advice is delivered to us.

  6. Honestly I don't care very much about the virus. I don't shake hands anymore and we don't kiss each other 3 times as it is the use in Belgium. A part from that, the shops, schools etc are open, I wouldn't travel, not because of the virus but because of the fear I can't get back !!

  7. Lovely shots. Sometimes I think this is nature's way of telling us to slow down and take more care.

  8. The photo with the water glistening like jewels, stunning. Nice image of the gloves too. I remember once being near the ocean on one of our trips and we had found a child's flip flops on the beach. We put them in a spot where hopefully they would be found, and then we walked around the corner to find a fence covered in lost items that the owner of the house had put on their own fence. It was covered, not only a very artsy display but a person might come by and find their lost item. As for the coronavirus, it has quickly affected our area (Northern Virginia) in that a lot of people seem to be staying home more, local shops not quite as crowded as they used to be and I am sure movie theaters are the same. We all have to do our part and be responsible, use our common sense. Interesting post, food for thought.

  9. Hello, beautiful view of the sea, looks like diamonds glittering. I guess keeping a social distance at times like this is a good idea. Common sense helps a lot too. Take care and stay well. I hope you are having a great day!

  10. We are fortunate that we have no confirmed cases in our state, but our kids in Ohio are certainly being affected - our son's university will hold only virtual classes until at least March 30. Who knows how this might affect his graduation in May, or our plans to attend it? I admire your search for a silver lining, and I am putting my faith in God's plan.

  14. I really love the Melville quote Penelope. It's very rightful in times like these and could be of good learning for Filipinos here who stubbornly don't follow quarantine rules HAHA. But I really agree with you, I refrained for going outside the house since last Friday and glad that the company allowed us to work from home.

    Please stay safe!
