What I'm Listening For ...

Bird symphonies permeated the thick Kwomais Park shrubbery, inspiring my world-at-peace fantasies, as did the Poets and Storytellers United "what do I hear" prompt.

Life and death struggles are bred into the flora and fauna of the natural world, although amid every stone, wing and leaf, sometimes I hear peace. But like the bird at rest singing or rainbow splashed on my angel fridge magnet, such crescendos swiftly vanish. Harmony is the golden global sound I am listening for but can barely hear.

  1. Nice poem and love your line 'when sobbing and suffering is
a birdcall to where peace flew' Your other writing is always poetic as well and I love
'Harmony is the golden global sound I am listening for but can barely hear' A sad truth but beautifully said

    1. I too like to hear the birds sing, a lot of ours sing from roof top to roof top. I have learned how to chat with the mockingbirds. We have had a lot of birds this spring with blue, we are in the path of them coming across the Gulf of Mexico from places south.

  7. Interesting thoughts indeed – the natural cycling between times of war and struggle and times/places/havens of sweet peace. Perhaps it is indeed a reality we need to face up to, as well as one in which we may find some comfort. It is my prayer that we find the interludes of peace and harmony sooner and hold them longer.
