Free But Not Really

My aspirations are far-flung and seemingly flying freely like the ball (mid-air in the distance) but not really. Somewhat like the kite, eliciting a few words below, life comes with stings attached as we rise and fall and rise again, trying to stay buoyant.
There is a shade of blue breaking through the rippling clouds.
There are shady spots to escape the heat and wander ...
and the welcomed cooling of breezes.
Cool creations surprise along the way in unexpected places ...
and there are snuggly spaces to hide.
There is faded beauty getting acquainted with its next phase ...
and fresh seeds for a taste of what will become.
And since all things come and go, there is simple contentment in watching life's flow.

HOLD ONTO THE LIGHT

Bewitching Hours

My eldest sister who long since passed away was an actor and prolific writer of poetry. Keeper of her many handwritten musings, I thought of the simple lines she once wrote when I recently spied the moon out my window during a sleepless pre-dawn hour.
Her words could be interpreted in different ways. They might be an ode to the courage it can take when one feels small beneath another's glow. Indeed, the moon itself seemed to struggle to be seen as clouds drifted by, obscuring its light.
After the clouds passed, the moon put on a show. My photos were woefully inadequate.
Bewitched by the sight, my imagination was stirred and I wrote a few words.
When morning came, daylight cast a less sentimental spell.
Clouds transformed into cottony fluff after squeezing out a few drops.
A big log lay in the dust like a slain beast, showing even giants can be brought down.
The neighbourhood cat sauntered by, somewhat like a character in the children's rhyme "Hey, diddle, diddle", it had no intention of playing second fiddle to the moon.

HOLD ONTO THE LIGHT

We're All Growing, We're All Going

One day she'll fit into her mother's shoes.
We're all growing and we're all going somewhere.
Even when it seems we're sitting still, changes are happening.
Even when there is little to grasp we are growing and going.
The pumpkin (below) is changing from yellow to orange. It's preparing for Fall and has no idea if it will be a pie or a carved-out decoration. It doesn't know where its seeds will land or if its shell will be a tasty delight, a nest for a candle's glow, or neither.

We also all fly with each thought that wanders, and sometimes with our inventions ...
simulating what birds do with ease.

We all are wondering, all hoping ...
and in need of a tender touch along the way.
