To-Do List For The Meek
The Poets and Storytellers United prompt "To-Do List" has me pondering how world peace has topped aspirational lists even since biblical times. No deity will save us from ourselves but on a small scale, humanity has might on its side. Breathing in the sweet scents of spring at Elgin Heritage Park, I thought, if all who abhor senseless loss and weaponry prioritize nonviolence, the "meek" shall inherit the Earth. Voting and challenging leaders tops the lists of the gently persistent meek. To-do means doing, not a Resolution to forget each New Year. It is pursuing the possible in the impossible.

ReplyDeleteI agree, we nee d to vote the rascals out of office. Get some problem solvers in there.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and peaceful photos and powerful poem! Every day I pray for peace and goodwill in the world so my grandchildren will inherit a better place.
ReplyDeleteWell said. It's that simple. Always love the photos!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful reminder that quiet resolve and kindly intention are powerful pathways to peaceful coexistence.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the message. When it comes to salvation, physical and spiritual, we must do the work. It is nice to think about a superior being watching over us and making it all better, but... that often times nice isn't very practical. May we work for peace.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, if anyone is going to inherit this beautiful earth, it will have to be the meek, who might take care of it and each other.
ReplyDeleteYou pair words with photography beautifully! I love the message ....
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures and especially this "To-do means doing, not a Resolution to forget each New Year."... so true!
ReplyDeleteYes to all, Penelope. My favorite is doing the possible parts of the impossible for a Resolution. I don't do them, a few mind exercising reviews of the past is enough for me. Love your pictures too. Elgin Park is something else, really nice. Did you have an Elgin Watch factory up there? I worked there in our factory for three years as a college dropout until I got drafted.
ReplyDelete..

No Elgin Watch factory, Jim, but a lot of watching of wildlife in my neck of the woods. :)
