Harmony On An Off-Key Day
The Poets and Storytellers United prompt "lyrics from a song that annoys us" intersected with my revisit to Elgin Heritage Park where birds filled the air with Spring songs. Their wordless melodies overtook the exasperated "lyrics" I had created while listening to news of the day. If open to it, harmony exists even when life is off-key.

I love how the birds look at you, sometimes with one eye, sometimes with two.

I love your phrase; "Harmony exists even when life is off key" I needed that reminder. And nature surely provides that harmony. I need to spend more time in nature for sure... Love the stillness of the water of the duck photos...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, I love them. A reminder that nature can center us when the world seems to be going out of control.
ReplyDeleteGood shots.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of the wildlife.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful sentiment, reinforced by your beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures and I really like the spinning bottle analogy for the churn in one's head.
ReplyDeleteLove the cocked head of the duck - gorgeous images. I'll take these tunes any day over the news!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the poem! Listening to the sounds of the birds singing can be so relaxing. Beautiful captures of the Redwings and the ducks. Take care, have a happy weekend.
This is a poem: " If open to it, harmony exists even when life is off-key." Great idea to ponder.
ReplyDeleteBird songs break the monotony of the humdrum. We have a lot of birds here now as quite a few stop on their route to further north. Some of the mockingbirds stay here until fall, a few stay the winter. The sit on the rooftops and call each other. I talk with them, "Who cooks for you" gets them going. The migratory birds are tired and rest and have babies after their long flight over the Gulf of Mexico coming north. Your pictures are great, lots of birds. Most of my bird pictures are on
ReplyDeleteMost songs composed about the news of the day would be filled with 4 letter words. Your poem is much nicer than that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk and beautiful place, it is so peaceful spending time out in nature and hearing the birds singing. Love your birds and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful photos and it feels so soothing to get out in nature!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem! Lovely shots of the Redwings and ducks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics as usual. I realise my thoughts are also like spinning bottle but the only difference is that it never stops.
ReplyDeleteLOL! One looks at you with a question mark face and tilted head. So adorable!
ReplyDeleteHarmony exists even when life is off-key ~~ your poem is proof positive.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is so true and though it's not about happy feelings, perversely it makes me feel better to know I'm not alone. ...We need to experience the healing sights and sounds of nature more than ever these days. I just read an article about research showing that listening to bird song is good for us. (One of those times where it's really hard not to say 'I could have told you...'
ReplyDeleteHello :=) I love the poem and all your beautiful photos of nature and wildlife. Listening to bird song is like a soothing balm that soothes the mind, and soul.
ReplyDeleteAll the best.
A visit to a wetland is always very special, becalming, tranquil and a true journey of discovery. Do it often!
