Extinct Critter Makes A Spooky Comeback

World peace, perfect health, no poverty anywhere or extreme weather ... sometimes it seems our ideals are suspended in space like leaves dangling from an invisible thread, spinning in circles until a snap happens and goals become dashed or less clear. The gates of more minds need to open on a global level and ladders to higher priorities scaled for a carbon-free future. United Nations current statements about looming extinction whisked me away on a breezy day into flights of fancy and an old nursery rhyme: Like a leaf or a feather in the windy, windy, weather we will whirl around and twirl around and all fall down together. (The extinct critter made a come back at the local nursery above to the delight of children young and old.)

And as if this weren't scary enough, Halloween arrived with its ghosts and goblins!

  1. Hello,

Loved the UN extinct critter video, we do need to make changes now. First politicians should not be taking money from these large corporations. They no longer work for the people or the country. Pretty collection of photos, love the leaf images and the cute dog. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, I appreciate your comment.

  8. The statements and predictions are scary but you know we have to deal with the truth and the sooner we start the transition to a carbon free future, the better we are all going to be. It's hard for me to look at the mess and chart a course forward.

  9. The future of our children and grandchildren is in the hands of the world leaders and what happens these next two weeks. It's a very scary thought.

  10. I've begun to see personal death as extinction, but hopefully not as a species. The picture of the jacket and child in the distance really drew me in to study it.

  11. Maria - thanks for the link to the video. We have elected the leaders that are capable of making the changes at the necessary levels - now we need to make sure they hear our voices loud and clear!

  12. The video said it all! Thank you for sharing that and all these other wonderful images, and for the very thought-provoking narrative. For the sake of generations to come, let us all be part of the solution not the problem, and here's hoping that the next generation will see better days.

  14. All the photos but the one of a dog have a little spooky atmosphere. By association of extinction, the innocent-sounding nursery rhyme gave me a little of chills. I hope wise business leaders and engineers guide politicians with their ideas and inventions. I prefer small but practical promise to big words with no realistic action. Thank you for the video.

  15. "All fall down together" has a more ominous ring these days -- both because I'm old and because of the state of the earth.... I do wonder if our grandmothers felt like I do now when we chanted that chorus. (Sure, they didn't know about global warming, but they did have other worries.) Anyway -- it is hard to maintain positivity right now. But we must try
