Looking for blue to peek through the hazy skies lately. Along my way I've been thinking about the Ukrainian girl who traveled to America for safety and ended up dead due to a stranger's violent psychotic act. Angels sent her from her homeland believing in safer outcomes but something demonic found her regardless. And tragically no angels helped the mother calling/pleading for help for her mentally ill son before he became a killer. I have no explanation why bad things happen to innocent people, just a poem that ponders the coexistence of good and evil, each causing random ripple effects from which we cannot detach.
My heart cries for this young lady, for such a thing to happen to such a sweet soul after she has gone through so much, beyond comprehension. Your words never cease to amaze me, your poem? Powerful! Thank you also for these beautiful images, I find them very soothing.
ReplyDeleteA heartbreaking story. Yes so much evil in the world so contrasting the kindness. You express that well in your poem and that last line is very strong. Beautiful photos as well Love the butterfly and the bird
ReplyDeleteSong IMAGINE comes to mind ~ someday we will have peace ~

Sad story and stirring words - thank you
ReplyDeleteSo many terrible things happen to people perpetrated by other people. Sometimes I just need to withdraw and spend time alone in nature.
ReplyDeleteSo much sadness in the world today.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve expressed something universal in such a personal way. Lovely writing.
ReplyDeleteWe read this in the news in disbelief. How such a monstrous thing could happen, but as you write we are surrounded by demons and the angels have a hard time dealing with all the hate and evil. A heart-felt poem...
ReplyDeleteIndeed, some things are inexplicable, and it seems human nature does encompass every extreme and everything in between. I don't know the story of this Ukranian girl but you have said enough for me to get the gist of it; yes, tragic for all concerned, obviously: horrifying. Those of us who live relatively safe and happy lives can only be thankful, and try to deserve our good fortune.
ReplyDeleteIt is impossible to grasp, connect with what is happening in our world ~ could we be this cruel, filled with hate ~~ the demons whispers .... how can this be? We need more poetry like yous!!
ReplyDeleteI like your poem, you know now I am 82 years old, at least on my passport, and I think nothing has changed besides household and accounting devices, but the humans are still the same. It seems to me that each and every tragedy which happens today for me is "déjà vu" . The politicians, the violence, mental health everything is still there, nobody has learned from the past. We had Ausschwitz and know we have this massacre in Gaza. It is an eternal repetition.....Today we know more about all the disasters than I did as a child. We had no television, many of us didn't have radio, not many newspapers, and we even didn't know what was happening in the neighboring village.
ReplyDeleteA tragic story we heard on our news. It will worsen with the cutbacks on health care. A dark time for America. God save them from the prevailing evil. Helen is right... those of us in other countries who will not suffer reprisal for expressing our views must keep writing about these atrocities. We must support our American friends.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured this incident with much clarity and dignity - Jae
ReplyDeleteLovely poem. It reminds us that this world is not so perfect after all.
ReplyDelete...yes Maria, enjoy the company of angels, but beware of the demons!
ReplyDeletei watched the story unfold, i cried....none of us are really safe. the behind the scenes writings, why she was here, all a heartbreak. next the shooting of charlie kirk...regardless of his message, he was a man who went to great lengths to speak and interact with people. to share what he thought was the right message. he was a man, a husband, a father and a son. my heartbreak is for everyone involved, everyone who has been touched by the event. now people write that "he got what her deserved" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! i am so ashamed of our country, we need to do better!!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is a sad story, my heart goes out to the mother for the loss of her daughter.
She must have thought she would be safe traveling to the USA , it seems our country is not so safe any more. Your poem is lovely. Beautiful seascapes, cute doggies, a pretty butterfly and the smart crow. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend.
Yes, it has been a week for violence. It's left me unsettled about what is happening around us.

This has been a sad and tragic week in so many ways. Our area had a school shooting and hardly anyone noticed--it has almost become a sad expected occurrence.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at your beautiful nature photos and feeling the peace and calmness they bring!
ReplyDeleteAngels and demons have nothing to do with it. Human nature is what it is.
ReplyDeleteCould it be that angels and demons are but a metaphor for the dichotomies that exist within human nature, David, and that neither can be separated from cause and effect.
DeleteIt's upsetting about the Ukrainian girl. It's too bad we don't have better facilities for those mentally ill people. Instead, they usually end up on the streets. Beautiful poem and photos.
ReplyDeleteHello :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about this tragic incident and feel sad for her loss and for her mother's grief.Your poem expressed your feelings very well. Lovely misty images and I enjoyed seeing both the butterfly and the crow.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend
All the best
Sonjia.
The pics go with the mood of the poem. Your words demons and angels residency together and both have ripple effect is thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteThe world breaks my heart everyday.. but then you read about the kid in Minneapolis, Victor, used his own body to shield his friend and while that too is heartbreaking but it reminds you that with every demon there is an angel as well.
ReplyDeleteSo much evil all around us. Your photos tempered it for a bit.
