There it was ... a bright dollop of sunshine in a tangle of forest greens, browns and silvery grays. The yellow door snuggled against a tree said Fairy Hall and, in tiny faint lettering beneath, No Trolls . Oh, how I'd love to know what goes on inside Fairy Hall. I wanted to tap on the door but, a giant by comparison, I didn't want to cause a scare. I often take the Sandy Trail with its gravelly path, woodsy stumps, well-trod stairs, rabbits, birds and squirrels. I know every twist and rustling sound. But I hadn't noticed the small door before. This unexpected bit of whimsy magic tucked into the forest floor made me curious about what else was in the mysterious thicket I'd yet to explore. When I continued on my way, the trees leaned in ... as if they had a secret to tell. Later, I found another fairy door (below), welcoming, but only to a select few. See OUR WORLD to explore more sights from around the globe and SIGNS, SIGNS . Still the kid I used to be ...
Loving the Earth better sounds like a very good idea. I like the photo of the families on the beach. I see very similar scenes on the coast near where I live. Suzanne - Wayfaring blog - Wordpress
ReplyDelete(....a well oiled clock unerringly spinning....)" Aah...what could be more appropriate lines to celebrate our home, this planet, this Earth this April? So beautifully penned. Lovely to see you at What's Going On.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see more people love the earth.

...the earth can be rather resilient, but there is only so much harm we can can inflict on it. Wakeup humans!

The earth will keep on spinning. Whether humans will be fellow travelers on her journey remains to be seen.
ReplyDeleteYes, we may as a species be transient after all. It's not looking very hopeful. I feel blessed to have experienced this earth, for a long and relatively happy lifetime.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to make an existential matter solid - Jae
ReplyDeleteHappy to meet bloggers and earth lovers like you!
ReplyDelete"Blue cosmic swirl" and "caterpillars discovering their wings" – such evocative lines in that poem. The cat's eyes is particularly captivating.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty kitty, it's eyes are beautiful. Great capture of the Eagle. I love your Earth poem, it is sad to see our earth marred by the madness. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy Easter weekend.
How beautiful with that expression. And it's so important to appreciate our Earth and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteA poignant bit of writing, "The Longest Journey"; you could not have written it better. Do love the cat as the beginning of your message.
ReplyDeleteHello :)
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful eyes of the cat are hypnotic. I stared a long time at the cat's face, and the eyes held my gaze in this beautiful photo. Your earth poem is a wake up call for all who do not cherish our home, the only home we have. Loving earth more, is necessary for our, and all natures survival.
All the best
Sonjia.
Lovely images! I am reading this on Earth Day. I wish that humanity would do a better job of taking care of our planet.
ReplyDeleteGlorious photos!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a beautiful reflection! It's so true that we often take our planet for granted, forgetting how extraordinary it is in the grand scheme of the universe. I love the idea of seeing Earth through the eyes of a cat — so simple, yet so profound. Every day is an opportunity to honor and protect the world around us, but it's nice that we have April 22nd as a reminder to do so with intention. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful perspective! 🌍💫
If only we could be persuaded to take care of the Earth.
ReplyDeleteThe cat’s eyes are Blue Marbles! Without respect to our Mother Earth, we can’t keep its beauty and nourishment. “A well-oiled clock unerring spinning” reminded me of excerpts from a poem “Morning Relay” by TANIKAWA Shuntaro.
ReplyDeleteOn this Earth
Always, somewhere, morning is starting
We are relaying morning
From longitude to longitude
Taking turns protecting Earth, as it were
Stardust! I looked up Morning Relay and read all the verses. The poem is so enchanting in its entirety and a pleasure to read. Thank you!
DeleteBeautifully written poem. Amazing cat photo!
ReplyDeletemother earth deserves so much better. the cat is very beautiful!!
