Forest Walk After The Rain
If I were a season, it would be autumn when life lets go to whatever comes next in grand flashes of freedom. The animated foliage unleashed in melancholy weather suits my mood. In dying leaves and spectacular sunsets, I see transformations and openings for future renewal. The season is cooler but it makes me feel warmer and cozier inside. Fall is my response to "what soothes you", the Poets and Storytellers United prompt.

Beautiful photos and poem. Is that a squirrel in the tree? I've not seen one with such dark fur before.
ReplyDeleteYes, a squirrel. There are many such black furry squirrels in my neck of the woods, although in some areas they would be considered quite rare.
DeletePoetry in both images and words, beautiful!!
ReplyDelete...Maria, you captured the beauty of autumn both in words and images. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour opening paragraph is what got me :) "when life lets go to whatever comes next" and "transformation and openings for future renewal" - things I am currently working on myself: letting go, and renewal... And yes, Autumn is also my favorite reason for all the same reasons you write about... Happy October :)
ReplyDeleteHot sky
ReplyDeleteWonderful photography!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I loved your poem too.
ReplyDeleteAutumn's breath burning the leaves is such a surprising, yet striking image...also love the black squirrel...don't think I've ever seen a black one before....
ReplyDeleteYour words and photo are like a symphony ~ thanks, hugs,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Beautiful images, especially the asters. I love the colors and the looking forward that come with autumn.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem with stunning last lines I love both Autumn and Spring We are at the beginning of Spring so all is colourfull
ReplyDeleteYou have contoured the change of season wonderfully - how it feels and how it looks - Jae
ReplyDeleteSorry about the typo - it should be captured - Jae
ReplyDeleteMy all senses are opened up the most in the forest walk after the rain. Your description about my favorite season could not be more apt and poetic. The subtle changes in gradual cooling as season progresses – it has gotten the thing of the past as I feel Japan is getting into another world.
ReplyDeleteA great collection - words and pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful nature walk and lovely collection of photos and a lovely poem! Cute capture of the squirrel. Pretty flowers! The last shot of the sky is gorgeous! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words (and illustrations) Maria! Spring used to be my favorite season, but several years (decades?) ago, about the time we retired from the working world, I really began to appreciate Autumn even more. Your poem perfectly express the reasons. Letting go, looking forward at the same time to different opportunities ... (If I continued on this logical path, it would probably be about time to change my favorite season to that next and last season, but I'm not quite ready yet to identify with Winter. Here's to a long and colorful Fall!! )
ReplyDeleteA beautiful serie of photos.
ReplyDeleteAll our squirrels used to be grey, but in the last few years we are seeing more and more black ones. These are all the same species, just different colors. Of course I don’t know about yours.
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Beautiful poem. I think this may be one of favorites.
ReplyDeleteLetting go and awaiting new......even I am there.....I resonate with you :)
ReplyDeleteI think we all enjoy fall at one level or another; I know I do. People in Florida might disagree right about now!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been a cruel autumn for them not as much due to the season as weather extremes more common now due to human caused climate change. Here's David Suzuki on this and related issues: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.6531690
DeleteI love it, Autumn is my season and it lasts for months here in northeast Oklahoma.
ReplyDeleteI share love of Autumn with you. The second stanza really caught me, as well as the outstanding photos.
ReplyDeleteIn the past, I used to think that I would like to be spring--all that new growth. But these days, autumn is so much alluring. The idea of letting go of the old, all the cleansing... is very alluring.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos! The colors are so vibrant.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely to catch up today. Those scenes are all delightful and I liked your poem very much.
ReplyDeletePerfect description of the moon, aloof, staying above it all, yet able to peer in all our windows. Thanks for posting that link on the climate change report.
