Going Somewhere

A little digital art project for me and subsequent poem, Untethered Dreamer.

Somewhere I'll go, to where will I blow
Will my wishes burst like pricked balloons
Or the path be strewn with luscious delights
Swaying to celestial tunes at starry heights

Someplace I'll go, to where will I race
Will my flights be chased into unlit holes
A hapless wanderer, maplessly floundering
Untethered dreamer once chained to a goal

Somehow I'll go, to where I don't know
Will my trip deflate into an ominous fate
A slippery ride with steep highs, deep lows
Or can I pull the string, impact something

Somewhere I'll go …

    1. Sallie, I caused confusion because I added the poem and then took it away for a slight rewrite. :))

  4. A beautiful observation about Life. We hapless, mapless wanderers can be surpised by where we go. :)

  6. Beautiful poem. Reminds me of a vision I have every so often of being a cloud and drifting across the landscape seeing everything that is going on.

  8. Maria - the Earth as a balloon, untethered - that has many layers of meaning. And your poem added even more depth. We are privileged to be on a journey of discovery all of our lives - if only we take advantage of the opportunities to explore and learn!

  9. Life, the world, and our paths in them can be full of uncertainty, often too loose for plans. I'm always hoping for a guiding string--something, someone--to keep me on track. Maybe, we'll get lucky and get where we need to go... happily and safely.

  11. I enjoyed reading your poem. Life is like the soap bubble and the dandelion seed. Lots of possibilities at the beginning and more along the way. Bubble-like it can burst at any time but like the dandelion seed it keeps drifting along until its flight comes to an end. I'm where I won't be disappointed at that landing.
Thanks for peeking in on mine. For a long time after I posted it I would get criticized about the poor critter living a caged life. But all the comments have disappeared except for one who criticized only that the cage should have been smaller. I put it on and now has had more than 2600 views. a couple are approaching ten times as many. My beagle dog thought. she was a different kind of human, she has the most. I haven't posted for a looong time.

  14. The balloon is beautiful but looks fragile. It looks free without a string but could crash anywhere. I like the positivity in your poem that our life is in the process of reaching somewhere instead of reaching nowhere.
Is your wrist all right? Take care and have have happy days ahead.

    1. Hello, Yoko. Thanks for asking about my wrist. Still in pain but getting better. Actually, have an appointment with doc later today to make sure it is healing in the right way. :)

  17. "A hapless wanderer, maplessly floundering" - maplessly is a very descriptive expression. I will borrow this one! I like your observation on my poem - unexciting and thrilling do not go together and perhaps they do. Only experience can tell. Thanks for visiting my poem-site.
