Precious Ground

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” – Mahatma Gandhi
We mean well. Sometimes we have hearts of gold and can step in another's shoes.
But precious ground is what we fight for ... whether that be on land, in space or at sea. As territorial as the fiercest of creatures, humankind seems willing to shake up/blast out both heaven and earth and risk it all to stake its claims.
We make major messes and rarely clean them up. Some hearts are made of stone.
Most have a dreamy side where thoughts freely float like clouds over peaceful places.
We pray and hope for the best as we build, break and create remarkable inventions.
There are twists and turns and tests ... nothing is ever as easy as it seems.
Sometimes we just want to heal, rest, grow what we know and watch for better days.

  1. Being on these precious grounds is is a precious gift. Remembering that the space is meant to be shared would be beneficial.

    1. Mahatma Gandhi would no doubt agree, Rose. I quoted him after posting, wondering if he would have held onto his views decades later in this current environment. It is ironic that a man who spoke of peace with optimism about humankind met a violent end by an assassin’s hand. To use his terminology … a single drop might not muddy the waters but it can have a huge impact.

  9. How touching and inspiring! Both Gandhi’s words and your thoughts. You’re so talented at creating images and finding things to shoot to convey your thoughts.

  10. Maria - I feel this post, deeply. At times I despair, but without hope, what is the point of living another day?
