A Sigh Of Relief?

"Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go." - Unknown

Even with the pandemic, the days have melded and swiftly flown. With the re-election of a Liberal minority government I can somewhat relax believing this was the better outcome, particularly for child-care and climate change issues. The alarming heat of summer is a haunting memory. Rain is back along with my favourite season. Autumn leaves have not yet fallen to any degree; blooms still cling to their stems. It is a time when we perhaps foolishly take for granted that everything old will be new again. Here are random scenes I captured on recent walks. I gave some a painterly look. I am surmising that the house (several pictures below) is being lifted due to potential future flooding. The slightest rise of the sea makes a world of difference to our coastlines.

  6. Dear Maria - The quote is so true. Let me add “Autumn makes up for the heat of summer.” Lovely series of the photos of various different things. When I saw photos before reading your narratives, I thought the highly raised wooden structure was to avoid moisture from the ground. According to your guess, the owner of the house looks proactive. We need to learn such attitude. Walking with a camera must have been more enjoyable with somewhat of peace of mind.

  11. A wonderful collection of photos for us this week. I used to dream of having a house by a river or the sea but now that prospect just conjures up images of flooding.

  16. This was the second election I was eligible to vote in. The first went fine with a mail-in ballot. This time I made a mistake on my address and it took lots of calls and in-person visits to get a replacement ballot just in the nick of time. - Margy
