It's Not All Black & White
I've seen more, not less, wearing of face coverings. To me it's a sign of respect for the well-being of self and others. Masks are awkward but not as awkward as ventilators. (The cat above, photographed after writing this post, was added belatedly.)
When I was small, I assumed cats were the female version of dogs that were all male. It made sense then. Cats were smaller and smoother. They didn't bark, they purred.
As I grew, I realized there were other sides to cats, genders, and everything else. Rarely is life as black and white as the pretty cat that recently crossed my path.
Cats come in many colours and make wonderful models, capturing the imagination of artists who love the multi-curves of their shapes and varied textures.
The watercolour (left) is by my friend, Lenore, who since passed away but remains well-known as a White Rock artist. She often sketched her beloved cat, Harley. Way back in 1990, her painterly eye was focused on him while he focused on a squirrel nearby.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteLove the cute black and white kitty. Life is not all B&W, there are shades of gray and so many colors that make life bright and beautiful. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog.
No life is never black and white That's a big truth. I love the beautiful cat painting Sorry to hear you lost your friend.
ReplyDeleteCats are aristocratic in so many ways. Dogs are just good friends!
ReplyDeleteAw, both Harley and the pretty kitty who crossed your path have lots of personality as well as good looks! I still tend to refer to all unknown dogs as “he” and all cats as “she.” ... was just reading about a “cat cafe” that recently opened in Fort Myers...you can apparently cuddle kitties while you drink your coffee and eat your lunch. Cats are OK with me usually, but that is one new restaurant I won’t mind missing...it’s a ‘no go’ without a single gray area. (Mostly my life is filled with those areas.)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I have two cats and they are calming when Duchess our dog gets excited and hard to calm. Thank you for this post! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteGood morning... It's time for walking through Bloggerland. Visiting each other on Our World on Tuesday. Love the cats 🐈🐈
ReplyDeleteStay healthy and well.
Happy MosaicMonday

ReplyDeleteThe black-and-white cat has powerful, enchanting eyes. Different from the colors of the cat, things aren’t always clear and can’t be understood easily. The painted cat by your friend has some different colors. Rainy season set in. I don’t dislike rainy days usually and this year especially for the same reason with you but I’m concerned about the possibility of worsening COVID situation due to evacuation caused by the torrential rains. Take care.

I love the rain but, same as you, not when it’s like a tap that never shuts off. I read about the heavy downpours sometimes happening this time of year in Japan that result in disasters. That’s when I hope for the sun to come out.
DeleteI like your thought; “Wearing face covering is a sign of respect for the well-being of self and others.”
DeleteThank you for your kind words. There have been almost no big damages so far. The characteristic of this year's rainy season is called "guerrilla rain", too sudden torrential rain.
Elegant cat photos and paintings. Like the color of cat fur that is not always black and white, our lives are not always colored.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Indonesia
My first son thought the same, that cats were girls and dogs were boys. The first two look like they're in fur tuxedos. Nice watercolor art!
ReplyDeleteI love dogs but I am a cat person. They are so beautiful and independent.
ReplyDeleteSo grateful that our world is not just black and white! I crave color! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeletePictures and paintings tell so much. Your artist friend really captures both the cat's and squirrel's expressions perfectly. You were lucky to have such a good friend. - Margy
ReplyDeleteA very sensible cat to wear the mask, and very thoughtful towards those nearby. Couldn’t agree more :) This pretty cat, the one below your mask wearer, is very photogenic and you're right about life not being black and white. As for Lenore's sketch, that's a real treasure.
